the loss of my global townsquare
from twitter to mastodon? … well, how does this feel like?
The joy of exchanging tips, facts and information with other like-minded individuals in real-time during one event … this is at the heart of #socialmedia. Add to this the seemingly endless treasure chests of cultural history, heritage and creativity in Europe, mix it with the excitement of discoveries, garnished with a common understanding of diversity in unity – and you may become the essence of #CultureEuro.

“This is what the New European Bauhaus is all about. It is about hope. It is about inspiration. It is about new perspectives. And it’s about concrete actions against climate change.” (Ursula von der Leyen)
The #NewEuropeanBauhaus is off to a good start. After the introduction in September 2020 by the European Commission, enthusiasm and ideas were already flourishing. With the recent conference (April 22 & 23, 2021)
the initiative presented itself as a possible driving factor for necessary change from deep […]
Thoughts on November 9th … It is now 31 years after the #FalloftheWall – and I will never forget my own story, as I was there, when the wall came down.
So much hope & joy were shared on that day in Berlin and around the world. The spontaneous city-wide party went on for days and only slowly the difficult tasks of a new reality settled in. Those were crazy days, as change happened so fast – and I remember very well, that I was often thinking, it was maybe too fast. Many careful voices – especially the ones of […]
With just a few more days before the election of the next US president, I wonder, how still now many people can not recognize the doom they are marching towards, when giving the “big loser” a second time a vote – even as he did not really win the first time around either.

My own audio recording from 2016 (when I heard the news in the morning) is a 10 […]
In these extreme times many of us are forced to stay home and (re-) discover digital tools and ways of living and working from the confiment of our own 4 walls. One way to stay in touch with relatives are video-calls. Many of us are at least familiar with FaceTime or WhatsApp video functions – however, what, if we would like to utilise a more professional App, enabling us to video-conference with family or team members in 3-5 locations? Maybe you also feel the need to move away from the overpowering data […]
The digital transformation of society is nothing new anymore. We are already in the midst of its development. It is not anymore the question IF we are entering the “digital age” as a (former) “information society”, but HOW.
Observing modern life all around me makes me realize certain particularities and patterns, while at the same time the analysis of my own daily work-flow and social interactions leads me to occasionally pinpointing selected topics. These can be questions of media consumption as well as descriptions of SaaS (what is that?), […]
So, today is a special day, a special date. Independent of HOW you are writing your date – if the American way: 02.20.2002, the European Way, 20.02.2020 or the Japanese way: 2020-02-02 – fact is, that this accumulation of the numbers 2 and 0 is at the very least a pleasant sight, a joy for the aesthetic senses, always in search of harmony and symmetric balances.
Numerology claims, that “…the number 2 is a sensual, graceful, loyal partner who can be a bit demanding, but is […]
“If you have been here before, you may notice things shifting. We are working on our website. In fact, we may be working at this very moment, just as you are reading these very words. Things of value take time to grow, and their living evolution can be an integral part of their beauty. When is something finished, anyway?”
This Website is currently a work in progress and when I stumbled upon this quote – currently posted on the site https://thecreativeindependent.com – I thought, it does fit very well also the current state of boell.com.
Last December an odd feeling began flowing through my veins; a sense of general unease occupied my mind and I could not shake it off. It was not the usual pre-Christmas blues, but rather a deep rooted nausea. First it seemed like a minor fatigue – a headache, which can not really be localised, but you know, it is “right there”. Then it got stronger, like a constant sound in the ears, you can notice specifically, when it is quiet around.
Finally I realised, that the general unease, I was feeling, was related to my social media usage – in particular […]
